At-cost orders

Ordering products "at cost" (wholesale).

Packing Slips - cost info included?

(See below) - "At-cost" orders not listed in your regular orders.

How to order "at-cost" (wholesale):

There are 2 basic ways to order prints and other products "at-cost":

  1. From an existing gallery you have set up for customers.
  2. From a specific gallery you have uploaded for the purpose of purchasing items.

Existing Galleries:
We offer a separate interface for ordering "at-cost" so you are not assessed the 10% commission.  This allows you to order from existing galleries without having to create a specific "photographer's personal gallery."

While logged in, browse to the gallery thumbnail page(s) of the images from which you want to place your order.  On the admin. menu, go to "purchase prints at cost."  You will then be able to select the images you want to order, along with the list of all products we offer.  You would repeat this process for each image.

Private galleries:

Many photographers do, however, set up their own private "working" galleries from which they can order, etc.  This is often to order images not on display to the general public, but those that the photographer still wants to order from our lab service.

In this case, the user would create the gallery, except do not enable it to the public.  To order wholesale from it, the same interface would apply, (from above) or the photographer could enable the whole gallery under sales setting to be an "at-cost" gallery and order using the regular selection/cart interface.  (If you do that, be sure to keep the gallery "private."

Processing "At-cost" orders:
Please keep in mind that all the same workflow "rules" still apply to at-cost orders.  If you are running a "display-only" workflow on the images you ordered "at-cost", then you will be sent an upload notification and you will need to upload the full-resolution "optimized" files.

Packing Slips - Sending "At-cost" orders to customers:

Quite often, our user-photographers want to order something "at-cost" from their site and drop-ship the order directly to a customer.  One of the most often-asked questions we get asked is whether or not we include pricing information in the packaged order.

Please note: Shutterbug Storefront does NOT include pricing (wholesale cost) information on any packing slips or in their packaging.

Special treatment - "At cost" orders not listed in Order Reports

Shutterbug Storefront does not include your "at-cost" orders in your regular "Order Reports" list in your admin. area.  The reason is so that so you are not assessed the 10% commission.  Currently, our system views these orders as a generic order from Shutterbug Storefront and not from your studio.  Therefore, we recommend that you save all the order notification emails that come in so you have a reference to the order number.

There is a "work-around" to this setup.  By including a promotional "Photo Insert" with your orders, the at-cost orders are now recognized and tracked as your orders in your "Order List."
