When it comes to uploading your images to display them in your galleries, Shutterbug Storefront uses a web uploader in your administrative interface which is meant to work with most browsers under most circumstances. With the variety of different settings that are possible on browsers, and the vast amount of configurations possible on each computer, occasionally, there are uploader issues.
General uploader issues:
The web uploader generally works well for average sized upload jobs:
- Under 350-400 images (varies with size, other factors)
- Images that are resized (display only workflow)
- Full sized images, but not too large (under 4-6mb in size)
Here are some common uploader issues and what to look out for:
- Image thumbnails do not show the file images:
Be sure to check that you have compatible JPG images.
- Uploader keeps "crashing" or gets hung up:
This may be more common if you are attempting to upload "full size" (print ready) files, rather than "resized" (display-sized) JPG files. First try using smaller JPGs or fewer number of files.
- Only shows a partial number of files show getting uploaded, then stops:
Often, this means that your browser has stopped showing the progress being made, but it usually does not mean that the uploading has actually stopped. Be sure to check back in the gallery in a few minutes to see if more of the photos (or all of them) have been displayed.
- Uploader stalls after using other applications or you open other browser windows:
First try letting the browser run on its own. Then try using the other application again.
NOTE - Contacting Support regarding uploader issues:
If you need to contact support about an uploader issue, we need you to supply us with the following details:
We sometimes get an updated version of the web-uploader that gets implemented on our servers. If you see a notice that says you need to allow the installation of the "Aurigma Uploader", you can accept that and allow it to be installed/upgraded.
Once the uploader upgrades are installed you may notice some additional features. This is to be expected. What will be readily apparent are some new buttons on the blue bar between the upper and lower windows. These will more easily help you select which images can be chosen for uploading.
If there are continued issues, or for people that did not get an update control message:
For continued problems with the new version of the uploader: If these measures do not seem to work, then please contact support using the guidelines above.
If continued uploader issues occur, we highly recommend using FTP as a means to upload your files. FTP is our favored way of having you upload. It is very stable, can upload many more files and larger sized files, and you can use folder structure to pre-load a gallery structure.
